The art of weaving rugs dates back to 2500 BC in Pakistan. Woven in remote areas by artisans using weaving techniques passed down for generations, these weavers use fine wool on a cotton foundation.
Due to the fine weave and high grade of wool used, and the proven dyeing techniques with high end materials, these rugs last for generations, age beautifully, clean easily, and because they are reversible, they last twice as long before you have to get them cleaned. Sold by a 3rd generation family dealing in these fine weaving that are a fair trade business.
These handwoven fine coil baskets are from the villages of Punjab in Pakistan, where the fine art of weavings dates back to ancient civilizations of Mohenjodaro and Harappa, 2500 BCE. Using wild growth from river banks as the foundation, wrapped with date tree leaves that are boiled in different colors, making beautiful designs that are from centuries old cultures of Pakistan as well as from around the world. These baskets are color fast, anti-bacterial, washable, excellent as hot plates, and will last a lifetime even with regular use.
Woven primarily by women in their homes between harvest seasons, this product creates a source of income for a part of the population that does not have other options to earn a living.
